Hegemon Chess
Date
February 2026 - March 2026
Work in Progress
"If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles.
If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat.
If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle."
Classic chess reimagined with a new tactical rule set. Alongside a standard chess mode, the game introduces Hegemon mode, which retains the traditional board and two opposing sides, but replaces the classic pieces with new units that have distinct movement patterns and situational capture rules.
The game emphasizes learning movement patterns, positioning, and awareness, akin to a grand general commanding its troops (hence, Hegemon).
Hegemon also introduces a victory grading system inspired by historical military strategy. Instead of a simple win or loss, the outcome reflects the state of the battlefield at the end of the match. Different results can be achieved depending on how many pieces remain when the game concludes.
